Experience Makes the Surgeon

When you are preparing for any sort of surgery it is important to know who your surgeon is- and this is no less true when it comes to plastic surgery.  Ask questions of your surgeon.  Dr Sanjeev Kaila believes that one of the most important questions to pose to your surgeon refers to the type of surgeries he/she has experience with.  Have they performed mainly Cosmetic Plastic Surgeries or Reconstructive Plastic Surgeries?
The medical specialty of Plastic Surgery deals with the correction or restoration of form and function.  This specialty is then divided into sub-specialties that include Reconstructive Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery.
Reconstructive Plastic Surgery focuses on correcting abnormal structures of the body that may have been caused by developmental issues, disease or through an accident.  Reconstructive plastic surgery is used to improve function to a part of the body; it is occasionally used to create a more ‘normal’ appearance.
Cosmetic Plastic Surgery is performed in order to improve a person’s appearance and/or self-esteem; ie for aesthetic reasons.  This type of plastic surgery reshapes body parts that are otherwise functioning properly.
When speaking with a plastic surgeon do not hesitate to ask about his/her experience.  If the goal of your procedure is to increase your self-esteem by making you look better you would want a surgeon who has a great deal of experience with Cosmetic Plastic Surgery rather than a surgeon who has focused mainly on Reconstructive Plastic Surgery.
If you have questions regarding any sort of plastic surgery please contact Dr Sanjeev Kaila at the Bluewater Surgical Centre in Sarnia. He will happy to share his surgical experiences with you.

Questions to Ask Before Having Plastic Surgery

If you are planning to have cosmetic surgery it is vital that you choose your surgeon carefully.  Your health will be in the hands of that surgeon so it is important to find out all that you can prior to having any sort of surgical procedure- to keep you as safe as possible as well as to provide you with peace of mind.

Dr Sanjeev Kaila suggests that three of the most important questions to pose prior to having plastic or cosmetic surgery are:
1.        Is the surgeon that you are considering for your procedure an actual Plastic Surgeon who has been qualified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or by The American Board of Medical Specialties?  These associations set the highest standards for post graduate medical education and ensure that these standards are maintained throughout a surgeon’s career through national certifications and lifelong learning programs.
2.       Is the clinic in which the surgeon practices accredited by either the Canadian Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (CAAASF) or the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF)?    It is the responsibility of these associations to ensure that surgical procedures are performed in a modern operating facility using the equipment necessary to ensure the safest possible operating conditions.
3.       Is the anesthesiologist certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons or the American Board of Medical Specialties?

If these three criteria are met you can be assured that a certain high standard of care and safety will be met for your surgery.
Dr Sanjeev Kaila is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and ensures that each of his patients receive his best possible care from consultation through surgery to post-operative healing.

Dr Sanjeev Kaila Reveals What You Need to Know Before You have Plastic Surgery

Dr Sanjeev Kaila believes that there are many things that you need to take the time to research prior to having any sort of plastic surgery but he recommends that top priority be given to discovering what it is that you are really looking for from the surgery.  He suggests that you should search deep within yourself to determine what it is that you do not like and exactly what change you are hoping to accomplish with the surgery.
Once you have clearly defined for yourself what changes you would like to see from plastic surgery it is time to convey them to your surgeon so that he knows what direction to take with your surgical plan.  He will also need a list for each of the following:
1.       Any medications that you are taking
2.       Any health problems that you have
3.       Any surgeries that you have had in the past
All of these things, added to your expectations from the procedure, will help your surgeon to present you with the best possible options to achieve your goals.
Along with the options Dr Sanjeev Kaila will also have an in depth conversation with you regarding the pros and cons of each choice.  In this way you will be better prepared to make an appropriate decision regarding which procedure to have and which technique will be right for you.
Are there physial or aesthetic changes that you would like to make for yourself?  Take some time to really consider how you would like to accomplish these changes and if cosmetic surgery is your answer contact Dr Sanjeev Kaila.  He will take the time to review your options and guide you to the right procedure for you.
