Your Teams

Preparing for surgery can be quite stressful and time consuming.  Dr. Sanjeev Kaila feels that it is very important to keep in mind that you need two teams working for you.

Team 1: The surgical team of doctors and nurses
Team 2: Support team made up of family and friends

Your surgical team needs to consist of caring, knowledgeable surgeons and nurses.  It is important that your surgeon be Board Certified to guarantee that he or she is using the most up –to-date techniques and technologies available.  It is also important that your surgeon be experienced in the type of plastic surgery that you are looking for- whether that be reconstructive or cosmetic surgery.

The nurses are your surgical team will: provide you with medical advice; administer medications; review post-operative care with you; provide support to you while in the hospital or surgical centre.
Another important member of your surgical team is the anesthesiologist who should also be Board Certified to provide you with the peace of mind that he or she will provide you with the care that you deserve.
The second team that you must assemble for yourself will consist of family members and friends and this team is no less important than your surgical team.  There is no doubt that support is necessary.  You need a sounding board prior to your decision to have plastic surgery-someone to run your concerns by; someone who will listen to what your expectations are from the surgery.   You will need someone who will understand your hopes and your fears with regard to your plastic surgery.
It is also helpful to have someone with you the day of the surgery.  This trusted member of your team can help to diffuse any anxiety that you may be feeling about the procedure by keeping your mind occupied with conversation about anything but the surgery.  It is also helpful to have a driver to and from the surgical centre. Most importantly, however will be the support that you receive from your team once you are home.  You will need someone to tell you sit still and let yourself heal instead of getting up to clean the house when you are feeling stronger!
If you are ready to assemble your teams for a cosmetic surgery procedure contact Dr Sanjeev Kaila at the Bluewater Surgical Centre- he understands the importance of teamwork!
